We are on the countdown to the season of excesses – food, booze, sun (we hope) and family!! Party soirees in full swing? Not sure how best to protect your skin and keep your glow whilst enjoying all that the silly seaon brings? Our Dermal Clinician, Jodie recommends we follow five basic tips to look after our skin (and ourself!) and avoid ‘hangover skin’ this feastive season. Here’s our guide to ensuring that your skin survives the silly season. Hint, coconut water should be your friend!
1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate.
You know it, we know it. Our bodies need hydration. Stock up on coconut water this silly season – it contains natural electrolytes that hydrate the body
2. Always take your makeup off.
As tempting as it is to fall into bed at the end of a long night, sleeping with make-up will not give you glowing party skin – just the opposite. Blotchly, acne breakout, dull and lacklustre skin is what you can expect going to bed with makeup on.
3. Keep your stress at bay.
For some, this time of the year can be stressful. Stress increases cortisol levels that can cause havoc on hormones and lead to breakouts and skin conditions such as eczema.
4. Stay on track with your homecare.
Remember your skin works it’s hardest and rejuvenates at night while you sleep. Help it out by ensuring that you are giving it the love it needs.
5. SPF.
After a few years (too many) of El Niña, rumour has it that it is finally leaving Australia. That means more fun in the sun. Ensure that you are applying your SPF every day (even on cloudy days), and reapply regularly.
